Title problems with NPC selection + shooting?

I noticed following behaviour:

1) equip a ranged weapon (make sure to have quite some ammo)
2) click on/select an enemy to shoot on
3) press [a]
4) move cursor somewhere
*Tux will now shoot at the cursors position, although the enemy is selected. If the clip is empty, tux will reload and continue shooting at the cursors position


I'm not sure if this behaviour is intended, it just seemed a little strange to me.
It may be beneficial if one quickly wants to take out another approaching bot while fighting a big one, 
but the player may also expect the 'NPC selection (indicated by the square under the corresponding npc) to be reset if the cursor is moved and [a] is pressed.
