If/when we redesign Tux to look better we should at the same time take the opportunity to add more armatures that fits more with different weapons.

Currently we have only 2 (sword and gun). I suggest we have at least 

* Melee *
1 Hand Swing 
2 Hand Swing 
1 Hand Stabb - small knives etc
(2 Hand Stabb) - few weapons in this group, should be discussed if the work involved warrants it
1 Hand Powered - Eg chainsaw and powerhammer should perhaps more animate the weapon (and have proper sounds) while tux himself is relatively immobile. Ie not big swings, more let the tool do the job. (but perhaps a 1 hand ranged armature could be used for this)

* Ranged *
1 Hand Ranged
2 Hand Ranged
Throw grenade (?)

It of course could be nice to have variation as well. Eg 1 hand melee could be 2 separate motions a left-to-right slash and a over the head cleave with showing slash or cleave being randomized for each attack.

There is a very noticeable glitch while the shooting animation is played.  The shoulder of the arm holding the gun is displayed over the gun itself. I wasn't able to upload a screenshot.

The 1 hand stab, I don't think is necessary; the 1-hand powered... I don't know. I can't see a use for 2-hand stab.
Either way, the work involved in animating new attack sequences is very little, so that's not a concern.

1- and 2-hand ranged is what I'm working on right now, and as for the throw grenade, I think that'll wait for when Tux can properly throw grenades. :)

Is randomizing animations hard to implement, or even possible?

Something else I'd like to see, is frames of the animation looping on rapid fire weapons. Seeing tux change position from "stand" to "fire" several times a second with the pulse laser rifle is a bit silly. :)
