To take your point further, I think it's redundant for the user to actively click 
a button to spend points and then also get a log message telling him he did so. 
The value increments in direct response to an action; I think that is 
acknowledgment enough. A log message just adds to screen clutter, especially 
multiple (often identical) messages.
