I think it would be nice if the (in revision 3282 not committed patch http://rb.freedroid.org/r/499/ ) Statistics would automatically show up if the game ends (if the player dies or finishes/wins the game).

Another idea: Is it possible to show the quest log (the statistics) when the player dies/looses the game?

I think you should add a feature request ticket for this. It is a good idea, but not something to be implemented in this (already large & complicated) patch.
Even if we decide to reject this statistics patch (which, o' course I hope we don't), it would be kind of nice to see that info.
