When I have a single obstacle, item, etc. selected, I find myself pressing the
delete key. When I do so, nothing happens, I think it should remove the
item/obstacle/etc.

I'm totally agree with this idea.

It's just about remapping the "cut" function to "delete" as far as I can tell.
No code is needed for that.
