I found a wandering 614 in town standing in front of a wall being unable to
move. Once I encountered a death animation while passing by, normally the 614
only turns its head.

Hmm interesting.
This should actually not happen.. :P
There is no obstacle in the bots way so I see no reason why it shouldn't move...
However this is a kinda minor bug, it doesn't really break anything it seems.

You're right as long as this is an irreproducible, singular glitch.

Things to consider:

1) In old versions it was quite easy to lose friendly NPCs by luring too many
robots near them: they would eventually respawn, overwhelming the guards. Is
this impossible, or only harder to accomplish now? If enemies can respawn in
town, it would obviously be better to have all guards fully functional.

2) If it's a general pathfinding problem, it might as well have adverse effects
elswhere. What if an NPC destined to follow Tux gets stuck instead?

3) Can this also happen to Tux himself? If I got stuck, I'd edit tux_t; the
average player, however, would start over from the last save from before the
problem which hopefully exists or might angrily quit the game.

Ok, what I can answer right now:

1) No, respawn is not allowed on level 0 (town). So don't worry, the only
problem would be with Kevin and Francis, NPCs that are not on the town.

Yes, already noticed this, and firendly NPCs won't see what's outside their
level, so letting bots respawn on the border is also safe.

Engel and Geist are most likely to be killed, and the only ones that teach
extracting bot parts, and you need all available levels in order to be able to
produce all item enhancements.

Francis isn't much of a problem, because you get his quest first, but Kevin
gives quests and teaches hacking (which in theory could be acquired also by
excessive nethack playing).

Ok, let me see again.

They have exterminators. It's not like they're going to die with normal bots.
Just don't forget powerful bots on Temple Wood. :)
...And if you do, I think that they may eventually respawn, not sure. Just
remember to remove (hack) the bad bots as wait the 10 minutes delay for respawn.

I'm not sure about why you would forget powerful bots on cryo lab. Plus, melee
bots will be quickly destroyed by the 614. 
But, an advice! Don't leave bots there. Act 2 may use Francis again, although
I'm 97.6% sure that it's Spencer (or rebel leader, if you go w/ rebels) who will
give you next big quest.

Don't break his wall, and he will be fine. He have a 614, a lawnmower and can
lock his gate, right? Plus, if you kill him, there is also Richard. :)

Read this by chance and can report a recent event. As i downloaded this game on
Friday and decided to contribute just this minute, i have not the newest
developper version, but 0.15.1 windows.

1.Engel was killed yesterday. I noticed only the message "your friend Engel was
killed" and thought it to be a feature. It wasn't a problem either, as i was in
lategame and had acquired the "extract bot parts" programm at the very
beginning. When i as walking by later, Geist was still wandering around and
killing bots.

2.I had taken over a bot ingame and forgot it in the cryo lab. To make sure it
won't neither be harmed nor start attacking hostile bots itself i guided it into
an inner room. When i later retourned to cryo lab, ( it was rather in the
beginning of the game) a huge mass of bots was waiting at the outside ( i think
this to be a feature?) and also mine in the inner had turned hostile. Luckily it
hadn't found Francis yet, but i took care from that time on...

 That already happened with me. I've forgot a 543 there...
 Possible solution: Increase HP for 'BLU' char.
 Cons: If you have an enemy that is of BLU type...
